Social Services Recommendations – Feminist Standards for Governance

Our recommendations for Social Services are:

Provide comprehensive training and sensitization to all social services staff on the systems and conditions that lead people to seek assistance

Prioritize inclusion in service provision including multilingualism and trauma-informed staff

Establish Social Services stations in all constituencies

Develop a process for the implementation of international mechanisms, publicize it, and contextualize it within constituencies

Feminist Standards for Governance: A People’s Agenda for 2026-2031 is a set of demands for the Government of The Bahamas to serve the people. In a series of workshops from 2021 to 2026, members of the public identified issues of national concern, connected them with systems, named responsible parties, and developed recommendations that address the issues along with their systemic roots. This people’s agenda is evidence of our collective interest in co-creating the future through active participation in governance.
