Labor & Economy Recommendations – Feminist Standards for Governance

Our recommendations for Labor & Economy are:

Educate the public on emerging employment fields and their utility to the national economy and the benefits of engaging people in situations of vulnerability

Increase social services to effectively reduce the financial and time burden on women and girls to fill gaps in the care sector

Regulate and expand public transportation

Facilitate Bahamians’ access to global digital economies

Feminist Standards for Governance: A People’s Agenda for 2026-2031 is a set of demands for the Government of The Bahamas to serve the people. In a series of workshops from 2021 to 2026, members of the public identified issues of national concern, connected them with systems, named responsible parties, and developed recommendations that address the issues along with their systemic roots. This people’s agenda is evidence of our collective interest in co-creating the future through active participation in governance.
