Governance Recommendations – Feminist Standards for Governance

Our recommendations for Governance are:

Enact laws that empower people in situations of vulnerability to actively contribute to governance while strengthening the educational system at all levels with curricula modified to encourage active participation in the promotion of inclusive governance processes.

Enact laws, establish mechanisms, workplaces, constituency networks, and educational institutions that create a more engaged citizenry primed/empowered to encourage MPs to address their issues.

Feminist Standards for Governance: A People’s Agenda for 2026-2031 is a set of demands for the Government of The Bahamas to serve the people. In a series of workshops from 2021 to 2026, members of the public identified issues of national concern, connected them with systems, named responsible parties, and developed recommendations that address the issues along with their systemic roots. This people’s agenda is evidence of our collective interest in co-creating the future through active participation in governance.
