Environment Recommendations – Feminist Standards for Governance

Our recommendations for Environment are:

Center the needs of people in situations of vulnerability in disaster relief planning and support it with adequate funding.

Address harassment in the workplace through the implementation of policies within all agencies, making the field safe for women.

Expose girls to careers in the field of environment and climate change by building pathways that begin early in their educational experiences.

Provide public education on legislative marine and land protections and their purpose, actively engaging stakeholders in 

Feminist Standards for Governance: A People’s Agenda for 2026-2031 is a set of demands for the Government of The Bahamas to serve the people. In a series of workshops from 2021 to 2026, members of the public identified issues of national concern, connected them with systems, named responsible parties, and developed recommendations that address the issues along with their systemic roots. This people’s agenda is evidence of our collective interest in co-creating the future through active participation in governance.
