What We Do
Equality Bahamas is a feminist organization that promotes women’s and LGBTQI+ people’s rights as human rights through advocacy, public education, and community engagement. We recognize the diversity of women and LGBTQI+ people; the intersections of gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, and other identities directly impact ownership, control, and access to resources and services. We call attention to the disproportionate impact of oppressive systems on people in situations of vulnerability. We work across thematic areas including gender-based violence, nationality rights, sexual and reproductive health and rights, political participation, climate justice, labor rights, and social protection. Our methods of work include advocacy for legal reform, feminist policymaking, research, and programming.
